"//I'm late and everyone has said everything but lemme say as well that I love how you don't fear giving her flaws as a trainer? Like the Hydreigon thing for example, I liked that a lot. Because she's the Champion and she still fucked up. A lot of people who portray protags who have become Champion make them look like they're the greatest trainer ever and the fact that you still leave a lot of room for improvement for her makes adds her depth and makes it more interesting I guess."

I’m actually going to talk here for a sec because I have something to say yes??? yes.

The whole point of the Hydreigon incident in my eyes was to prove just that– she’s a champion, yes, and by all means a prodigy …. but she’s not perfect. Going by main timeline? She saved the world and was inducted into the Hall of Fame at fifteen. She is currently eighteen.

And what does that mean?

She’s still a kid, not even out of her teens and she’s going to fuck up. Not just little and irrelevant fuck ups either– sometimes she will be legitimately wrong in her actions and get herself hurt because of it. That’s how life works, after all!

Which is why, for me, it was really important that she maintain fears and scars from the incident, that she get rid of the Pokemon. Hydreigon can’t be tamed anymore (at least by her) because she fucked it up badly enough that her chance is gone and it isn’t salvageable. She will never master that Pokemon, it will never respect her, and both of them are probably exceedingly fucked up from the experience.

I’m really glad that I give off this sort of impression tbh because??? I want her actions to have consequences and I want the consequences to be of lasting impact and of notable merit.

Just because she thinks she can do anything and everything, on her own no less, doesn’t mean she can.
