kryscialis:

The Togetic is pushed back even more, falling to the ground after the attack. Nanu wasn’t really a strong Pokémon (in fact, it had the least endurance out of every Pokémon in her team), being only used for hard starting attacks, so Kris didn’t know if he would survive it or not. She gets her answer when the Togetic attempts to stand up, but falls instead, with no signs of standing up soon.

After quickly checking Nanu to make sure he was okay, Kris takes out his Pokéball and returns him to it. Grabbing another one from her belt, she throws it out as the red light emitting from the Pokéball lands it on the ground. Out came a Ampharos.

“Let’s go, Ben! Thunder!” she yells. He does as told; generating electricity from the red ball on it’s head and shooting it as a beam towards the Rufflet.

Talk about a bad match-up. Electric against flying? Yeah, this wasn’t about to end well. Both May and the little Rufflet offer startled squeaks but thankfully Ace has the sense to try to avoid the zap. Really, if thunder had better accuracy, they’d probably be goners— as it was, the attack is just narrowly evaded.

Yikes… one wrong move and they were done for, no doubt about that.

“U-Uwaaaa….! This ain’t lookin’ too good, Ace!” She whines in protest. “Try to keep back— the closer you are, the less time y’got to dodge. ‘fact, let’s kick up some dust and get some leg room in here!”

Ace offers a shrill chirp before his tiny wings begin to beat harder and faster, with just enough power to whip up a gust of wind strong enough to make nearby trees sway slightly. Maybe it wouldn’t be enough to move Ampharos, big and heavy as it was, but disrupting its sense of balance was good enough for her.
